The trail winds through areas featuring endangered species found only in the Manitoba Tall Grass Prairie Preserve, such as small white lady's-slipper, western prairie fringed orchid and great plains ladies'-tresses.

The Agassiz Interpretive Trail features two hiking options. The longer three-kilometre trail takes you around the 320-acre  site. The shorter loop, approximately 1.75 kilometres, weaves through 160 acres. The trail features several rest stops, two picnic areas (one at the trail head and the other at the halfway point) and washrooms at the trail head. The trail head and parking area are discretely situated on the east side of the property.
